Exeter Wheelers Cycling Club Hill Climb Festival

Exeter Wheelers; the long established cycling club of Exeter, will be holding their first Hill Climb Festival on Saturday 19th September. With Exeter hosting the Tour of Britain for the last two years in a row, cycling fever has never been stronger in the city, and this year Exeter Wheelers will continue the passion by running a day of events celebrating one of cycling’s unsung racing disciplines; hill climbing. Hill climbing is a long running tradition that first started in the UK over 100 years ago; a simple race against the clock, pitting individual riders against the hill.
Exeter Wheelers are adding some special additions to their end of season hill climb this year by featuring three separate closed road races up to the top of Stoke Woods near Exeter, as seen in the Tour of Britain Devon stage in 2014 and 2013. To include;
• 10.30am CTT Open Hill Climb – An open hill climb event for experienced racers, ran under national Cycling Time Trial rules offering big cash prizes.
• 1.30pm GoRide Children’s Races – Safe, fun racing for children aged 6-16yrs, offering the next generation the chance to try out a cycling race for the first time.
• 3.00pm Charity Team Race – Amateur cyclists can team up in three’s to record their best overall times up the full course and raise money for local charity, Exeter Deaf Academy.
The event has also kindly been sponsored by Michelmores, Interserve and East Devon Sports Therapy.
