Everybody is invited to an Exe-travaganza on Saturday 1st August at Exeter Quay on the Piazza Terracina from 11am.

Spirit of the Exe is a free festival for all the family with live music, stalls, face painting, nature walks, creative activities for all ages, stilt walkers, activities on the river and much much more.

The event will be a celebration of the estuary! It is a globally important site for wildlife, a hub of activities for people to enjoy their leisure time, an area steeped in maritime history and a place of beauty and pride for local communities.

The Extreme Mountain Bike Show will be at the festival, the UK and Europe's number one mountain bike and Trials/BMX demonstration team lead by the Multiple British and European trials bike champion Danny Butler. Come and watch the only show to include ‘bike dancing' and be in with a chance to grab a Show Giveaway.

Learn about the fascinating and beautiful life in our British seas with displays and activities with marine biologists. Come and view the hidden underwater seagrass beds which provide food and shelter for many creatures on the Exe, with the Community Seagrass Initiative. Join one of the heritage tours on the historical Quayside, or explore the natural wonders around the Exe with Devon Wildlife Trust.

Exeter Quay is a hub for recreational activities, so come along and find out more about the fantastic range of Watersports and land based activities that you can get involved with on the Exe.

The ‘Inside Outside Craft Market' will be in the Transit Shed, featuring local artists, craftspeople and makers. There will even be competitions to win some fantastic prizes! Travel by public transport and show your train or bus ticket to be entered into a free draw to win prizes.

There is lots to see for all ages at the Spirit of the Exe festival… and all for free! So come along and take part in this celebration of the estuary.

Getting There:

By foot or bicycle: The quay is a 10 minute walk from the city centre and well signposted. To fully experience the estuary, it is possible to reach the Historic Quayside using the Exe Estuary Trail. Follow the signposted route north from either the East or West side of the estuary. See the Exe Explorer leaflet for more information.

By bus: The G Bus from the High Street to the Historic Quayside runs hourly between 10.15am and 3.15pm. The return service runs hourly between 10.30am and 3.30pm. The Matford Park and Ride service between South Street and Haven Road runs every 10-12 minutes between 8am and 6pm, Mon - Sat.

By car: The quay is accessible via Westernway from the West and the A377 from the East. There are two potential car parks; Cathedral and Quay Car Park and Haven Banks Car Parks. Both of these are a short walk from the festival.
