The Lions Club of Sidmouth stage their Great Duck Derby on the River Sid on Sunday 14 July.

The fun starts shortly after 2pm at Sid Park Road bridge in the Byes, with the children's and parents "duck and spoon" races, which will be followed by the corporate duck race with little red ducks.

The main duck race starts at 3pm when hundreds of ducks enter the River Sid from the Sid Park Road bridge and "race" downstream to the weir by Salcombe Road. Cash prizes ranging from £20 to £400 will be allocated to the ‘owners’ of the first 19 ducks that cross the finishing line.

The "yellow duck" tickets cost £1 each and are available from members of the Sidmouth Lions Club who will be selling the duck tickets in hotels and pubs around the town or on the day from Sidmouth Lions' gazebos near the race start and finish points.

This year's event will be raising money for both Sledgehammer Cancer Fund and Sidmouth Lifeboat.
