Resilience is the ability to cope with and rise to the inevitable challenges, problems and setbacks we meet in life, bouncing back quickly and stronger from them.

We can’t always control what happens to us and around us. The good news is that success is so much more than what happens to us, it’s how we respond that makes the difference.

In our agile, fast-moving business world, we need to be constantly on our game:

  • Customers demand more and competitors are ready to step in if we fall short.
  • Businesses and people need to keep moving, adapting and learning.
  • Failure should be seen as a necessary step to progress and growth.

As such, our ability to deal with challenges effectively, learn from failure positively and to demonstrate effective resilience is closely linked to our ability to fulfil our individual potential and have the desired impact on colleagues and employees.

Our natural resilience is a combination of personal characteristics and learned skills – but, most importantly, the quality can always be developed whatever an individual's starting point. In times of change and growth resilience has become increasingly important for individual and business performance.

The session will help attendees to:

  • Explore the relationship between work pressure, resilience and performance
  • Understand the central characteristics of resilience
  • Examine the concepts of Mental Toughness and Vulnerability
  • Recognise how to respond positively to the pressures and demands of working life and identify opportunities to thrive
  • Identify actions to improve the morale, performance and resilience of their teams, as well as themselves

An organisation that has the right balance in its leadership is an organisation that will perform exceptionally

The session will be interactive, fun and thought provoking, with learning from one another positively encouraged, and with everyone coming away with a healthy dose of self-reflection, and with specific actions to take forward to build and maintain personal resilience outside of the session.
