Following a sell-out run at last year’s Edinburgh Festival, Fifth Word take their production of Jane Upton’s Bones on the road this Autumn and are coming to Exeter's Bike Shed on the 21st and 22nd of October. This production marks Fifth Word's first national tour, don't miss it.

Synopsis

I had this pet rabbit once. I used to hold it tight ‘til my knuckles went white. I held it tight so it couldn’t run. But it did. It dug itself out of the mud round the yard. I would have dug my way out and never come back if it wasn’t for her.

Nottingham,1998. Nineteen-year-old Mark is living a life he never signed up to. Heavy with the responsibility of caring for his broken mum and her baby, and pining for a past of Panda Pops, eggy bread and Brian Clough, Mark knows he has to do something drastic to change things forever. But how far will he go?

An achingly honest portrayal of a boy struggling to find his place in a world that doesn’t want him, Bones will break your heart, spit you out and then make you wonder why you cared in the first place.
