BIS-net

In April 2013, Ceda received a grant from the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund, which enabled us to set up BIS-net, 'Behaviour Intervention Support Network.'

BIS-net will aim to achieve the following goals:

✶ To Improve relationships at home for individuals with behavioural support needs.

✶ Help individuals with Behavioural Support needs to work towards independence and being more socially active.

✶ Raise awareness and understanding within the local community to allow for more fulfillment, engagement and enjoyment for those with behavioural support needs.

✶ Reduce Isolation and lack of support for parents & carers.

Over the next year we will be setting up a range of services that parents, carers and individuals with these support needs can access. At present these services are still in the piloting stage and we are currently working with a handful of families in this capacity to inform and shape what these services look like. The plan is to launch these services over the Summer of 2013.

Summer will be a busy and exciting time as it is also when BIS-net will launch it's website, with information, resources and sign positing to other services that parents can access. It will also include a very user-friendly forum where parents and carers can share experience, advice and support.

Alongside the services provided, we will be looking to raise awareness and understanding within the local community, to help build a better support network and hopefully allow individuals with behavioural support needs better access to local settings. This will be targeted through training & guidance to local settings as well as an award scheme or sign-up system for settings and services that want to let parents, carers and individuals know that they are willing and prepared to provide extra support for those that need it.
