Exeter announces its bid to become the UK’s City of Culture in 2029 

Exeter City Council has today announced it will be submitting an expression of interest (EOI) for the prestigious UK City of Culture title. 

The City of Culture bid follows the culmination of five months extensive engagement and consultation with artists, creatives, cultural organisations and residents to shape the council’s commissioned new five-year Cultural Strategy for Exeter.

SW house price increases driven by shortages

House prices were driven up again in the South West in April as new instructions declined for the third month, according to the latest RICS UK Residential Market Survey. While 37% more surveyors saw prices rise in the South West in April, the highest reading since September 2014, new instructions continued to decline as 18% more respondents saw a fall in new instructions over the last month.

Youngsters are set to camp out at the Met Office this weekend to learn about the science behind weather.

Met Office Science Camps provide a unique opportunity for 11-13 year old students to take part in demonstrations and hands-on activities led by Met Office staff, while camping overnight at Met Office headquarters in Exeter.

Dissenters Graveyard wins Lottery support

Exeter Dissenters Graveyard Trust (EDGT) has received £60,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for an exciting project, Phase 2 of the restoration of the Dissenters Graveyard in Magdalen Street, Exeter.

This phase, which starts in late May, will continue the process of rescuing the graveyard from dereliction.
