The competition, now in its ninth year, is part of the Be Dog Friendly campaign which aims to break down barriers for man’s best friend by encouraging more businesses and public spaces to welcome dogs through their doors.

With over 9 million dogs in the UK, and around one in four households owning a dog, the great British public are always on the lookout for places where their four-legged family members are also welcome, and the Be Dog...

Business views on Visit Devon needed

The Devon Tourism Partnership*, which promotes Devon under the 'Visit Devon' brand, is currently determining the future direction of the county’s promotion, domestically and internationally, and looking for businesses to tell them where they’d like their efforts concentrated. Local businesses have until Friday 17th July to complete the survey.

Activity is funded from partners’ own budgets, with no additional income available from central government, so spend has to be carefully considered.

Victoria Hatfield, Chair of Visit Devon, said: “Visit Devon is a strong and valuable...

Mole Valley Farmers support Live Below the Line

Mole Valley Farmers’ ( www.molevalleyfarmers.com ) Head of Retail Marketing Andy Skarzynski has successfully taken (and survived!) the Live Below The Line’s five day challenge, subsisting on no more than 50p’s worth of food and drink a day.

The £250 raised by Andy will go to the Save A Cow ( www.sendacow.org ) charity which Mole Valley Farmers have supported from its inception, 27 years ago.

Live Below the Line usually involves a budget of £1 per day, but Andy explains: “As my colleague was unable to share the challenge due to illness, I maxed the spending cap and did it on...

She was interviewed by acting editor of the Western Morning News on Sunday Liz Parks, who asked her what she thought about the Spiers Saga.

She told Liz: “I do think people make a big issue of it, let’s just get on with it. Having said that, social media speaks for itself – she is very...

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter says he's "excited" at what lies ahead after the Aviva Premiership fixtures for the 2015/16 season were confirmed this morning.

Entering into their sixth season in English rugby's top flight, Baxter will be looking for his squad to build on last season's best-ever campaign, when the Devon club narrowly missed out on a place in the end of season play-offs on points difference.

Exeter's fifth-place finish equalled that of the 2011/12 season, but their total of 68 points eclipsed that of any other year and the Chiefs leader is keen his team...

Concern for dairy farmers grows

The law firm behind the campaign to protect West Country milk producers – Support South West Dairy Farmers – is warning that the continuing drop in retail milk prices can only put further pressure on the industry.

Last week, Sainsbury’s announced that it is reducing its prices for one pint and two pints of milk to 45p and 75p respectively. It stressed that this will not mean a reduction in the price paid to farmers, which remains ring-fenced.

This was followed by news that one of the country’s biggest dairy processors, Arla, is cutting the price it pays to farmers by 1.18p...
