Online electronics retailer Ebuyer.com have created a tech map highlighting which cities in the UK are the biggest tech-lovers by analysing sales, technology sectors and population data.

The data showed that Exeter tops the charts as the home to the most tech-loving residents in the UK. The city came out on top of data collated from tech sales of a wide range of electronics, computers and office supplies.

South West law firm Michelmores LLP is seeking applications from local charities who would like to become their next Charity of the Year, starting January 2016.

Over the last two years Michelmores has raised over £50,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support through events such as the firm's annual 5K Charity Run, coffee mornings, a Charity Art Auction and many more.

Royal recognition for top volunteers

Two of Devon’s top volunteer groups have received the Royal seal of approval last week as they were honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Volunteers for Acorn and Squirrels Riding for the Disabled in Exeter and St Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth were among 187 groups in the UK to receive the prestigious award, the highest honour given to volunteer groups, equivalent in status to the MBE.

Essential work to start on Bridge Road

Essential work is to be carried out to the canal bridges on Bridge Road in Exeter next month (August).

On Monday 10 August and Tuesday 11 August, inspections and maintenance work will be undertaken on the swing bridge. Contraflow arrangements will be in place, with all traffic using the bascule bridge.

From Wednesday 12 August to Monday 17 August, the contraflow will run on the swing bridge, as the timber joint between the bascule bridge and the road will be replaced and upgraded with a reinforced concrete and stainless steel structure.

A branded “Visit South Devon” train has been unveiled to encourage people to visit destinations on the scenic Riviera Line between Exeter and Paignton.

THE Trust that runs Exeter Community Hospital and community health, social care and specialist services in the city has been named in a list of the best places to work in the NHS.
