Ice warning issued for Devon

Another weather warning has been put in place for Devon as temperatures continue to drop.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for ice from 9pm tonight through to 9am tomorrow (Tuesday 19 January).

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “After a very wet morning some surfaces will remain wet due to run off and seepage on Monday night and Tuesday morning.

“With temperatures expected to fall close to or below freezing this is likely to lead to some icy patches forming.

“Please be aware that this may lead to some low level disruption to travel.”

TEDxExeter aims to more than double its reach this year thanks to the loyal support of existing sponsors, and new organisations who have come on board. Their sponsorship means that many more people will be able to see some of the world’s best thinkers share their ground-breaking work and ideas.

West Country accountants and financial planners Old Mill are sponsoring Children’s Hospice South West’s 2016 £50 challenge in a bid to raise £25,000 for the North Devon based charity.

The £50 Challenge is an annual event where local businesses compete against each other to turn a £50 start-up investment into as much money as they can over a three month time frame, with all money raised going directly to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). Owners and managers of Exeter’s hotels and restaurants are being invited to a free training day to help them better understand their responsibilities when it comes to keeping their businesses safe.

The event, organised by Exeter City Council, features presentations from Environmental Health Services, Devon and Cornwall Police, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and Public Health England.

Don't stay cold this winter

As temperatures drop, people living in Exeter and across Devon may be able to get extra help with their heating this winter thanks to a new scheme.

Devon Delivers, the County Council programme which aims to encourage businesses to relocate to Devon, has launched its Business Promotion Grant to help companies promote their goods or services to national and international trade audiences.
