Concerns over rough sleepers in wheelie bins

As the cold weather is set to continue, many homeless people are putting themselves at risk of injury and even death by sleeping in waste containers, according to recycling specialists, Coastal Recycling.

Many rough sleepers are seeking shelter from the harsh weather conditions and see wheelie bins as a safer place to sleep than on the street. In addition, bins present a comfortable refuge to people under the influence of drink and drugs.

A Scandinavian-inspired casual dining concept - Food Drink Coffee & Store - will be the sixth restaurant to join Exeter's exciting new Queen St Dining quarter.

KuPP signed contracts with Aviva Investors on last week and this will be KuPP's first site outside London, marking yet another huge boost for Exeter as a dining location. A regional programme designed to help women develop their digital skills and improve business practice, has culminated with a conference in Exeter.

And fittingly, the Love Digital event took place at Exeter Library on Tuesday - International Women’s Day.

Scientists at the University of Exeter have found the most robust evidence yet that simply being a shorter man or a more overweight woman leads to lower chances in life, including a lower income.

Police warn of PIN number distraction thieves

Police are urging the public to be vigilant after a number of shoppers have been targeted by thieves in supermarket car parks across Devon and Cornwall.

While the victims, in some cases elderly women, have purchased goods in a supermarket or used a cash point a suspect has watched them enter their PIN number.

When the victims have returned to their vehicles, they have been approached by someone asking for directions to the nearest hospital or similar location. While the victim is being distracted, someone else has got into their vehicle and stolen their bank cards.

Members of the Conservative Group on EDDC and Exmouth Town Council saw for themselves how work is progressing on the new £1.2 million Mamhead Slipway when they visited the project on Monday (7 March).
