Cycling, walking and park and ride will be boosted and smart ticketing on buses and trains introduced to help tackle congestion and pollution in Exeter if Labour retains control of the council in May.

Police search for weapons following Exeter attack

Searches continue in an attempt to locate the weapons possibly used in an attack in Exeter on Wednesday.

Officers were called to a property in the area of Lower Summerlands and Clifton Road at 1.10am on Wednesday 6 April.

A man, who is not from the local area, was found with serious injuries which were described as life-threatening.

The victim of the attack currently remains in hospital and his condition is now described as stable and conscious.

A man in his 40s is currently in police custody and awaits questioning in connection with this incident.

Stockley happy to stay with Exeter City

Exeter City striker Jayden Stockley has revealed he would be happy to remain at the club after his current loan deal expires at the end of the season.

Exeter Chiefs fly-half Gareth Steenson says his side are fully focused, as they prepare their visit to Wasps in the European Champions Cup Quarter final.

Bin collections suspended as police investigate serious assault in Exeter

Rubbish collections have been suspended in some parts of Newtown following a serious assault which left a man with life-threatening injuries.

Devon & Cornwall Police has asked Exeter City Council to suspend collections of household waste while investigations continue into the incident.

Collections will not take place in the following roads until further notice:

Cash for councils to fill potholes

Motorists and cyclists are set to benefit after the Government today (Thursday 7 April 2016) announced how £50 million of funding will repair nearly one million potholes across the country over the next 12 months.

Fifteen councils in South West will receive a share of £8.4 million, helping to remove around 159,000 potholes from local roads during this financial year, with Devon County Council receiving £1.9 million to fill around 37,000 potholes.

Repairs to Teignmouth sea wall completed

Three months after winter storms damaged a section of Teignmouth's promenade, repairs have been completed. The area around the sea wall has been re-opened to the public.

The sea wall, promenade and beach area are popular public spaces as well as providing coastal flood protection to Teignmouth. It was therefore essential to carry out repairs quickly as the instability of the wall and promenade threatened increased flood risk to homes and possible safety risks for the public.

Exeter Chiefs winger Jack Nowell is looking to use England’s Six Nations Grand Slam victory to help steer the club to glory.
