Medieval quarry re-opens to supply Cathedral stonemasons

A Devon quarry that originally supplied stone to build Exeter Cathedral over 800 years ago has now re-opened, thanks to a partnership between the site’s current operator and the Cathedral’s works department. The Pavey Group’s ‘Donate & Do Good Day’ for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) was a resounding success.

The day was held in Exeter on Tuesday 25 October and the idea was, as many busy professionals don’t have time to take their unwanted items to charity shops, the team from Pavey Group would visit the businesses to pick up collections instead!

Devon’s richest raceday takes place on Tuesday (November 1) when high class horses will be heading to Exeter Racecourse to contest the grade 2 188Bet Haldon Gold Cup.

Outsourcing giant, Sitel, is creating 150 jobs at its Exeter call centre as it gears up its customer service offering ready for the Christmas rush.

The company today revealed it plans to create 1100 part and full time jobs nationwide.

The new jobs for Exeter are as a result of Sitel’s work with leading on-line retailers and the roles include sales and customer service advisors providing on-line customer support such as web chat.

Ottery St Mary coffee shop and play kingdom Tickety-Boo is hoping to add an additional play area and improved access to the popular play kingdom.
