EX2 Group joins national decarbonisation framework—boosting Exeter’s retrofit credentials

Exeter-based EX2 Group has been selected to join the Greener Futures Partnership’s (GFP) Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS), a key UK-wide procurement route aimed at accelerating decarbonisation in social housing.

Under this framework, EX2 Group will deliver and install low-carbon systems including heating, lighting, solar generation, battery storage, EV charging, and whole-house retrofit solutions across the South West.

‘Class of 2016’ congratulated on 100 per cent exam pass rate

Nineteen staff from five offices of chartered accountants PKF Francis Clark, including Exeter, celebrated their exam successes at a special reception.

The ‘Class of 2016’ achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in their taxation and accountancy exams.

Managing Partner Andrew Richards described the results as “outstanding”, adding: “They have all worked so hard for these qualifications and I, and the rest of the firm, could not be prouder.”

Heroin, crack and cash seized in Exeter

Three men have been arrested and drugs and cash seized following a warrant being executed at an address in Exeter.

On Monday the 10th of October, officers from the neighbourhood policing team and drug enforcement officers executed a misuse of drugs act warrant at an address in Longbrooke Terrace, Exeter.

Three men aged 21, 19, and 18, all from London were arrested.

Samsung scraps Galaxy Note 7. Refunds available

Samsung today confirmed that it is permanently stopping production of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone.

The firm said it had made the decision to stop production for the sake of consumer safety after it was involved in dozens of fires and explosions worldwide.

It said in a statement: “Putting consumer safety as the top priority, we have reached a final decision to halt production of Galaxy Note 7s.” A spokesperson confirmed that the suspension was “permanent”.

Marine businesses, fishermen and sailors are to get a new voice about what happens on the Exe Estuary.

Commercial fishermen, ferry operators, mooring authority representatives, pleasure boaters and boat yard owners have come together to form a new watchdog, the Exeter Port Users Group.

This is a result of Harbour authorities, such as Exeter City Council, now having to consult their local communities about what happens on the Estuary.

Hendy Group, which operates from the Marsh Barton Trading Estate in Exeter, says the highest September sales on record nationally reflects its performance last month.

Figures released from the Society of Manufacturers and Traders reveal that car sales so far this year have passed the two million mark with 496,696 sold in September.
