Network Plus Envolve opens Exeter Science Park office to support major water programme

Network Plus Envolve, a joint venture between Network Plus and Envolve Infrastructure , has established new offices at Exeter Science Park to support the delivery of a new framework with South West Water.

Approximately 15 engineers, project managers and technical specialists will be based at Envolve’s new offices within the George Parker Bidder Building - a net-zero carbon facility at Exeter Science Park. The team is expected to grow significantly, potentially doubling within the next 12 to 18 months.

Waste service consultation begins

Devon County Council (DCC) is inviting residents to have their say on proposed changes to its waste management service.

The changes at Devon’s Household Waste Recycling Centres include length restrictions on vehicles using the sites, charging for the disposal of all plastic construction and demolition DIY waste and an amendment to the list of non-acceptable wastes.

Changes are also proposed to ensure that the amount DCC pays community groups to compost waste is comparable with the authority’s own composting costs.

Police warning after attempted sexual assault in Exeter

Police are advising the public to be vigilant after an attempt was made to sexually assault a woman.

Police are currently investigating an attempted sexual assault in Exeter that happened on Thursday (3 November) between 1.40pm and 2pm.

A woman was approached by two unknown men, both dressed in black with black gloves, who then attempted to sexually assault her in the lane, which runs between Bathern Road and Cumberland Drive adjacent to the A3015 (Rydon Lane) in Exeter. The woman managed to fight them off to which the men ran off.

Exeter Christmas Market to go ahead

It has been confirmed this afternoon that the 2016 Exeter Christmas Market will go ahead. Included in this year’s event will be a special chalet for the use of independent traders in the cathedral area who have been closed since the fire took place.

The Market starts on Saturday 19 November and runs until Sunday 18 December.

Fashion retailer New Look is opening a stand-alone menswear store in Princesshay, Exeter this month.

The 1,900 sq. ft. store will open at 10am on Wednesday 9th November, and joins the collection of 16 New Look Men stores across the UK.

Works to reduce flood risk in Exeter continue

From 7 November, BMM JV, working on behalf of the Environment Agency, will divert cables and water mains on the Quayside to make way for the installation of concrete piles to support the flood gates outside the waterfront.

Work will also start on temporary defences – barriers that can be put up when flooding is likely – which follow the line of the existing bollards at the quay.
