Really Big Quiz raises thousands for Devon Freewheelers

Exeter’s 14th annual Really Big Quiz, held at the Corn Exchange in aid of Devon Freewheelers, has succeeded in raising over £7,600 for the Lord Mayor of Exeter’s charity of the year.

Organised by chartered accountancy firm Simpkins Edwards, the quiz saw a packed hall of 72 teams fight it out for the title of Exeter’s brainiest business.

HRH The Queen is undoubtedly the most famous horse owner to compete at this year’s Devon County Show taking place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (May 18-20) at Westpoint, Exeter.

The Queen is entering a Highland pony and a Riding Horse in two classes within a packed equine programme which starts at 7am on Thursday morning.

Exeter Homes Trust, formerly known as The Exeter Municipal Charity, hosted an event on Friday (12 May) to celebrate the completion of remodelling work, at the historic Magdalen Cottages, and the organisation’s rebrand.

Castle Drogo appoints new contractor to complete conservation project

The National Trust has appointed a new contractor to complete the third and final phase of the five year project repairing and conserving Castle Drogo. Dӕdalus Conservation will be picking up the reigns to continue work making the castle watertight and structurally sound, after the previous contractor went into administration last year.

The firm, who have over 25 years of experience managing conservation building work, will be taking the project to completion, starting work at the castle in May this year. Now well over half way, the project is scheduled to finish by the end of 2018...

SW business activity growth strongest since December

South West firms enjoyed a strong month of business activity growth in April as they outstripped the UK average, with demand for goods and services continuing to increase, according to the latest Lloyds Bank UK Regional PMI survey.

The South West PMI® rose to 56.7 in April, up from 53.4 in March. A PMI reading above 50 signifies growth in business activity.

Data from April showed that businesses reaped the rewards of increased demand for goods and services, and as a result, continued to create new jobs, albeit at a slightly slower pace than in March.

WBW Solicitors and Charles Stanley support Exeter City Korfball Club, who in turn support Ugandan youth football.

Korfball is a mixed-team ball sport that brings together aspects of netball, handball and basketball. The Exeter Korfball Club (ECKC) has been running since 2003 and now fields two teams in the South West Korfball League.
