The British Heart Foundation is Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Exeter’s chosen charity for 2026.

The charity was chosen by the President of Exeter CII, Theresa Atal, who is also Compliance Director for Trusted Financial Advice (TFA).

Theresa said: “The British Heart Foundation is a charity very close to my heart - excuse the pun. My father had heart issues, and my partner has a defibrillator fitted. Every pound raised, and all donations handed in their shops around the country, help make a difference to people’s lives.”

On 6th March the CII Exeter Annual...

They are helping to transform the old car park at Wat Tyler House community hub on King William Street into a ‘paradise’ garden area and have spray painted pink flamingos onto the wall. The group has also undertaken courses in horticulture and woodwork. Laura...

There is no doubt that Brexit has already had a significant effect on the UK economy, despite the fact very little in the way of serious negotiations have taken place. Ever since the UK voted to leave the EU last summer, the government has been plunged into one political disaster after another. Meanwhile, the UK economy continues to move forward and in some industries flourish.

Article 50 was triggered on the 29th March, so the UK has until April 2019 to negotiate a settlement package. Given the slow pace of negotiations to date, this seems like a tall order, but the government has...

Work on a new staggered signal-controlled crossing across Alphington Road, which will help vulnerable pedestrians access the retail park, started on Monday (14 August).

As the National Crime Agency (NCA) reports that modern slavery and human trafficking is more prevalent than previously thought, Devon's Safer Devon Partnership is urging people to be alive to the warning signs and to tell others of their suspicions.

The NCA Director, Will Kerr, said last week: “The more that we look for modern slavery the more we find the evidence of the widespread abuse of the vulnerable.

“The growing body of evidence we are collecting points to the scale being far larger than anyone had previously thought. The intelligence we are gaining is showing that...
