Network Plus Envolve opens Exeter Science Park office to support major water programme

Network Plus Envolve, a joint venture between Network Plus and Envolve Infrastructure , has established new offices at Exeter Science Park to support the delivery of a new framework with South West Water.

Approximately 15 engineers, project managers and technical specialists will be based at Envolve’s new offices within the George Parker Bidder Building - a net-zero carbon facility at Exeter Science Park. Three quarters of South West SMEs have no plan to deal with business disruption

Think Sink! campaign aims to keep your pipes clear

South West Water is launching a new campaign encouraging customers to dispose of cooking fat, oil and grease in the kitchen bin.

Every year, tens of thousands of litres of waste fat, cooking oil and grease are poured down sinks by people who don’t realise the problems this could cause.

South West Water’s Head of Community Relations, Alan Hyde, explained: “When hot fat, oil and grease cools it forms a solid mass which can build up inside your pipes.

Former Royal Marine jailed for terror offences

A former Royal Marine has been jailed for stockpiling and manufacturing large amounts of explosives, weapons and ammunition in hides across Northern Ireland and Devon which he admitted would have been used to assist others to commit terrorist acts had they not been discovered.

The case was brought to the attention of police thanks to members of the public who noticed suspicious items buried in woodland in Northern Ireland, and reported it to police.

Ciaran Maxwell, 31, of Exminster, was sentenced to 18 years' imprisonment at the Old Bailey on Monday, 31 July.

Citizens Advice Exeter raises £700 for justice for all

A team of walkers from leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, raised £725 when they took part in the Exeter Legal Walk on the 6th June.

The Exeter Legal Walk celebrates the continued work of the legal profession and advice sector in protecting people’s rights and promoting equal access to justice for all. The wife of a patient who was cared for on the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital has raised over £1,200 for the unit as a thank you for saving her husband’s life.

Appeal for witnesses to fatal crash in Sidmouth

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A3052 at Elms Hill in Sidmouth on Friday 28 July 2017.

The driver of a Nissan Skyline, a man in his 20s, sustained fatal injuries as a result of his car colliding with a BMW travelling in the opposite direction. The BMW then collided with a Peugeot.

Mother and two children die in Devon crash

Police have confirmed that two children and a woman, believed to be the mother, have died as a result of the collision this morning [Monday 31 July] on the A361 near Lankey Junction, Barnstaple.

Emergency services were called at 8.25am to the A361, near Aller Cross at Barnstaple following a two vehicle collision between a car and a lorry.

A road closure has been put on at West Buckland junction and the Lankey junction on the A361 whilst officers conduct scene investigations. The closure is likely to be on all day and motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
