Local small businesses across the South West are gearing up to take their share of a much-needed Christmas boost, as new data predicts the UK could spend £5.3 billion with small firms over the festive period, delivering critical end-of-year gains for this vital segment of the economy.

Devon artist raises £10,000 for special care babies

When Devon artist Jennie Rhodes was asked to create a picture in aid of the Torbay Special Care Baby Unit and Exeter Neonatal Unit, little did she realise the units’ tiny tots would play a major part in her design, which raised an amazing £10,000 at a charity auction.

Devon businesses make switch to LEDs to tackle energy use

In the last 12 months more than 5,000 LED lights have been fitted in Devon businesses and organisations.

This major energy switch stands to save businesses involved over £100,000 and 439 tonnes of CO2, equivalent to the energy use of an average house for 33 years, according to SunGift Energy Ltd.

Queen’s Drive Space goes live!

Fun, sun, food and entertainment were the order of the day for Exmouth Seafront over the Bank Holiday Weekend as the Queen’s Drive Space officially went live.

Funds support therapy for young Harriet

The cost of funding one year’s specialist therapy for an 11-year-old with cerebral palsy has been met by a local housebuilder.

Persimmon Homes South West has made the donation to fund conductive therapy for Harriet Dunn from Exeter.

The £1,000 grant was made through its hugely successful Community Champions campaign.
