Nearly £6,000 raised for The British Heart Foundation!

The British Heart Foundation is Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Exeter’s chosen charity for 2026.

The charity was chosen by the President of Exeter CII, Theresa Atal, who is also Compliance Director for Trusted Financial Advice (TFA).

Theresa said: “The British Heart Foundation is a charity very close to my heart - excuse the pun. My father had heart issues, and my partner has a defibrillator fitted. Every pound raised, and all donations handed in their shops around the country, help make a difference to people’s lives.”

InExeter is proud to reveal Exeter’s winning independent businesses as voted for by members of the public in this year’s Summer of Independents competition.

The shortlisted five businesses, as voted by the public, across the three competition categories Food and Drink, Services and Retail were shortlisted and visited by a mystery shopper.

Exeter businesses gear up for children’s charity sports day

On Tuesday 17th September, members of the local business community will be battling it out in the inaugural CHICKS Superstar Games, hosted in Princesshay, Exeter, to help raise awareness and funds for the Devon-based national children’s charity.

The mock sports day will see the likes of Grow Magazine, Air Marketing, Attention Media, Burrington Estates and KTA go head-to-head competing in a mix of classic sports day activities including the egg and spoon dash, three-legged race and sack relay, as well as battling it out in heats including an obstacle relay.

WORKERS are taking an average of four ‘mental health days’ a year but lying about it to their boss for fear of being judged, demoted or sacked.

New research shows over half of employees who took mental health days faked a physical illness to explain their absence, despite stress from work souring relationships and sleep patterns for many.

A mental health day is a sick day taken to look after psychological wellbeing, this could including seeing a counsellor or taking time reduce stress and anxiety before it becomes overwhelming.
