Huge demand for the 11th Dartmoor Classic cycling event, which will take place on Sunday 2nd July 2017, has resulted in sell outs for all three routes, with places for the Medio route (67 miles) and Grande route (107 miles) being snapped up in record time.

Powderkeg Brewery, based in Woodbury Salterton near Exeter, has gone straight to the top with its first award, having won Best Lager at The Beer Awards for its pilsner ‘Cut Loose’.

The Beer Awards are run by the world-renowned IWSC (International Wine & Spirit Competition), with the beers judged in a blind tasting by leading figures from the international beer industry. Winning ‘Best in Show’ in its category, Cut Loose was described as ‘one of the 16 best beers in the world’. Devon and Cornwall Police is holding a knife amnesty this month to give people the opportunity to safely hand in potentially dangerous weapons. The amnesty will run from Tuesday 15 until Monday 21 November 2016. This initiative has been prompted by the recent legislation that now prohibits the sale or importation of ‘zombie knives’.

Police want to give people the opportunity to hand these shocking weapons in, along with any other unwanted knives, to take them out of circulation, avoiding them ending up in the wrong hands.
