Exeter-based employment lawyer joins Westbank Community Health and Care’s Board of Trustees

The Devon-wide health and wellbeing charity, Westbank Community Health and Care, is delighted to welcome lawyer Henry Cross as its newest Trustee. Henry is a Senior Associate at Michelmores, specialising in employment law.

A father-of-two from Exeter, Henry already had a broad awareness of the charity when he met Westbank’s Head of Carers Services, Andy Hood, at a networking event a few years ago. When he subsequently learnt that Westbank was looking for a law-oriented Trustee to join its Board, he was quick to express his interest in the role.

Browne Jacobson trainees smash fundraising target in ride, trek and sleep-out charity challenge

Twenty-six Browne Jacobson trainees have raised over £11k for the firm’s five charity partners after completing the last of three endurance testing events this weekend.

The final challenge saw 14 of the trainees forfeiting their home comforts by taking part in an Autumnal Sleep Out in the firm’s office gardens in Nottingham that tied in with National Homeless Awareness Week.

The group smashed their £7k target set out earlier in the year with all the proceeds being divided equally between all five partner charities.

A new report from the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has revealed the true extent of crime and its impact on businesses in the South West.

The report found that in the South West, almost a third (32%) of small firms have been the victim of a traditional crime such as theft, criminal damage and assault. Meanwhile around 23% of small firms in the region have been hit by some form of cybercrime including phishing, malware and data theft.

Devon's GripHero Ltd, the developer of the world’s first fuel nozzle-mounted hand-protection dispenser, has announced that it has succeeded in cutting hand-protection related plastic waste on forecourts by an average of 55%.

The news follows a detailed study of forecourts using GripHero’s dispensers to determine how they performed in comparison to conventional glove dispensers previously used at the same forecourts.
