Chiefs throw away a 14 point lead in Heineken Champions Cup clash

The start was fantastic, the middle more of a mixed bag, whilst the end was ultimately disappointing.

Exeter’s hopes of advancing in this season’s Heineken Champions Cup hang in the balance after they slipped to defeat against Castres.

This loss, coupled with last week’s home draw against Munster, mean Rob Baxter’s side currently sit bottom of Pool Two and facing an uphill struggle if they are to stand any chance of progression.

Devon’s finest will need to win at least three, if not all four of their remaining fixtures, to give themselves any hope of reaching the...

Sides play out goalless draw at Blundell Park

Exeter City were held to a 0-0 draw away from home against Grimsby Town at Blundell Park in Sky Bet League Two.

Pierce Sweeney had the Grecians' best chance when his penalty was well saved by James McKeown, and City had a number of chances to win the match, but were unable to find that all-important goal.

Manager Matt Taylor named the same side that started the 2-0 win over Swindon Town last weekend, as the Grecians faced the first of two long away trips within a week.

City’s first chance of the match fell in the eighth minute when Jonathan Forte did well to latch...

Chiefs side to face Castres

Rob Baxter insists the way his side finished last week’s Heineken Champions Cup opener against Munster must now be the starting point for his players ahead of tomorrow’s Round Two clash with Castres (2pm). With little to choose between the Chiefs and Munster in horrendous conditions at Sandy Park, it was the current Gallagher Premiership leaders who were pressing hard in the dying minutes. Up against a gale force wind, Baxter’s side came within a whisker of claiming all four points against the Irish province. Sadly, a knock-on in the last action of the game ended their hopes of a famous...

Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah may have lit up English football in 2018, but there is another name - less familiar to the general public - who tops the goalscoring charts across the English leagues.

Exeter City's Jayden Stockley has 22 goals so far in 2018, more than any other player in England in this calendar year. Across all of Europe's professional leagues in fact, only Cristiano Ronaldo (26) and Lionel Messi (25) have scored more.

Not bad company for a striker plying his trade in League Two.

The 25-year-old from Poole, a product of Bournemouth’s academy, has his...

Exeter Racecourse resumes action next Tuesday with the return of racing to Haldon Hill.

Storm Callum brought much-needed rain to the Devon track and with an unsettled forecast in the lead up to the meeting it’s all systems go on Haldon Hill.

General manager, Jack Parkinson said: “We’re delighted to be able to get underway next Tuesday and very much looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Haldon Hill. Racing at Exeter is a huge tradition for West Country folk, and we know that come September, everyone is itching to be back on track among friends and like-minded people...

Chiefs take a share of the spoils in Heineken Champions Cup clash

Having blown away all that have stood in front of them so far this season in the Gallagher Premiership, Exeter Chiefs were unable to kick-off their Heineken Champions Cup with similar reward against visiting Munster.

Rob Baxter’s side huffed and puffed in patches – and they could easily have won it at the death – but in the end they had to settle for a share of the spoils against the Irish province on their first-ever visit to Sandy Park.

Luke Cowan-Dickie’s converted first half try, plus a penalty from Gareth Steenson, gave the Chiefs a slender 10-3 lead at the break....

City 2 Swindon Town 0

Goals from Jonathan Forte and Jayden Stockley proved the difference as Exeter City overcame Swindon Town 2-0.

The win sees the Grecians keep pace at the top of the league, remaining second on goal difference.

City boss Matt Taylor made two changes to the side that started the draw with Yeovil, with Jonathan Forte and Lee Holmes replacing Jordan Tillson and Lee Martin – both of whom dropped to the bench.

Exeter started the first-half brightly, and some good interplay within a tight area early on down the Swindon left between Hiram Boateng and Lee Holmes created an...

Chiefs side to face Munster

Domestically Exeter Chiefs have yet to put a foot wrong in terms on on-field success. Six wins from six games, 29 points out of a possible 30, it’s little wonder that Director of Rugby Rob Baxter is walking around with a smile on his face. Tomorrow, however, the Chiefs will embark on their latest European adventure, welcoming for the first time to Sandy Park, Irish visitors Munster in Round One of this season’s Heineken Champions Cup (3:15pm). A capacity crowd will be expected for this inaugural match-up between these two modern-day heavyweights, both of whom will be looking to deliver a...
