Alfie Bell Re-Signs with Exeter Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs lock Alfie Bell has re-signed with the club to continue at Sandy Park.

The former Wasps Academy player was plucked from the remains of the former Gallagher Premiership side when they folded in late 2022 and has been a Chief ever since.

“I wanted to recommit to Chiefs because I believe it’s the best place for me to develop further and earn the opportunity to play in the Premiership,” Bell said.

“One of my favourite memories in my Chiefs journey so far is having had the chance to play next to my brother at Sandy Park. It was something we both had...

Chiefs and England trio agree new deals

Rob Baxter’s forward-thinking vision for Exeter Chiefs has tonight been boosted with the news that three of their highly-rated stars have all pledged their immediate futures to the club.

England internationals Luke Cowan-Dickie, Jack Nowell and Henry Slade have all put pen to paper on two-year deals that will keep them at Sandy Park until the end of the 2020/2021 season.

Having all come through the Devon club’s academy structure, the trio have since gone on to establish themselves as household names within the Chiefs ranks, each of them amassing over 100 first team...

Randell Williams joins Exeter City from Watford

Randell Williams says Exeter City’s reputation for developing and improving players was the reason he decided to put pen to paper on a permanent deal at St James Park.

The 22-year-old winger, who has spent the last year on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, joins City from Watford.

He comes with a proven track record having played six games for the Chairboys last season as they were promoted from League Two and 23 games for them this campaign in League One.

“I am very pleased to have joined,” said Randell. “I know about the club and I am just happy to be here.

“I...

Grecians and city council on the ball to back Armed Forces Covenant

Exeter City Council has linked up with Exeter City Football Club to show support for those who serve in the armed forces.

Both have backed Exeter’s Armed Forces Covenant, recognising the fantastic job that service personnel do and acknowledging their hard work and bravery.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

In Exeter, a number of businesses have signed up to the covenant and pledged discounts to service personnel and their families....

With sport shifting up a gear – think Spring Festivals, Six Nations and FA Cup rounds – Exeter Racecourse is giving all those with a love of the big ocassion the chance to come racing this Sunday (Jan 20, 2019) for just £5 per person.

It’s a one off offer to enjoy some Sunday sport with all the family – under 18s race free - and general manager Jack Parkinson reckons the racecourse will be buzzing.

He said: “It’s that time of year when everything ramps up a gear in racing as the festivals – Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown, are just a few weeks away. Racing starts to...

Kane Wilson rejoins City on loan

Kane Wilson says he has unfinished business with Exeter City having agreed to join the club on loan again until the end of the season.

Kane, 18, who has represented England at under-16 and under-17 level, spent the majority of last season on loan at St James Park where he made 22 appearances for the Grecians and scored his first goal in senior football in a 2-1 victory over Barnet.

It was a successful time for the club as City reached the League Two play-off final, before losing to Coventry City at Wembley. However, Kane has set his sights on going one better this time...

Chiefs 34 Castres 12

Rob Baxter’s Exeter Chiefs will use this week to ready themselves for a straight shoot-out with one of European Rugby’s top guns, Munster, to see who will advance out of Pool Two in this season’s Heineken Champions Cup.

With their aspirations seriously faltering after three rounds of battle, Devon’s finest have recorded back-to-back, bonus point victories against Gloucester and Castres to give themselves a more than fighting chance.

Just four points separate leaders Munster and the Chiefs heading into the final round of action next weekend.

Thomond Park will be...

Investigation work is being carried out at Exmouth’s Warren View Sports Ground by East Devon’s contractor Geotechnics Limited over the next few weeks to give reassurance that the site is suitable for all-weather pitches and other multi-sport facilities.

East Devon District Council is working with the Devon-based charity Exeter CITY Community Trust to develop a pioneering sports hub at the Ground, which is one of a number of sports and recreation sites owned and protected by the council in Exmouth and across the district.

The Community Trust and the council are working on...

Grecians play out draw at St James Park

Exeter City were unable to make their offensive pressure pay dividends as the Grecians were forced to settle for a goalless draw against Morecambe at St James Park.

The Grecians dominated much of the ball and the chances, but credit to the Morecambe defence, who shut down the City attacks to prevent them making it two wins from two.

City boss Matt Taylor made one change to the starting 11, with Lee Holmes returning from injury in place of Chiedozie Ogbene.

It was an evenly-matched opening period, with the home side producing some attacking football that was very...

Hard fought battle sends Chiefs clear at the top of the Premiership

Exeter Chiefs toasted their first game of the New Year with victory, but this was hardly vintage stuff from Rob Baxter’s side in a contest that lacked any real fizz.

Devon’s finest extended their lead at the top of this season’s Gallagher Premiership by seeing off local rivals Bristol Bears in a contest that is unlikely to live long in the memory bank of the capacity crowd that packed into Sandy Park.

The Chiefs bounced back from their loss at Northampton Saints last time out to edge out their nearest and dearest for a second time this season.
