Exeter awaits era-defining tournament as new Women’s Rugby World Cup trophy unveiled and further tickets released

With just 100 days to go until Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 kicks off in Sunderland, World Rugby has today unveiled a bold new trophy – a symbol of the game’s unstoppable global rise – and announced the release of additional tickets for what promises to be a generational moment for the sport.

The trophy will embark on a trip to Exeter on 20 May at Exeter Cathedral, as part of a nationwide tour of England.

Sarah Massey, Managing Director of the Rugby World Cup 2025, and several rugby stars will be in attendance to showcase the new trophy.

Exeter Tennis Centre has been selected as a Local Player Development Centre as part of the LTA's 10-year Performance Strategy for tennis in Britain.

The centres will be operational from September 2018 and will play an important part in developing the next generation of British tennis players.

The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) today named 50 tennis centres across the country that will act as Local Player Development Centres (LPDCs), marking the next milestone in the development of the new ten-year Performance Strategy for tennis in Britain.

Max Smallcombe and Alex Hartridge have joined Conference South side Truro City on six-month loan deals.

Max, who has made one appearance for City in the Checkatrade.com Trophy against Oxford United, is a promising 19-year-old midfielder who has won caps for Wales at under-16, 17 and 19 level.

THERE were thrilling finals in the 14th Exeter City Supporters Trust’s One Game One Community Group male and female five-a-side community diversity football tournament, when eight male and six female teams competed for trophies and medals.

In the male final, Marcel's Allstars drew 2-2 against Isanbul Barbers and with no score in extra time, just as in many World Cup games, it was down to penalty shoot outs.

Exeter Deaf Academy wins National Deaf Schools Sports Day again!

Exeter Deaf Academy have won the national track and field competition for Deaf schools for the second consecutive year. It is the first time the Cup has been won by the same school two years in a row in the history of the event.

In glorious weather, young people from across Devon and Cornwall shone brightest at the South West Rotary Youth Games at Dawlish on Saturday 7 July.

Around 800 participants aged 8-18 represented their local area across 13 sports at the South Devon venue whilst hundreds of other families enjoyed a packed day of activities including food stalls, fun runs, archery, dodgeball, swimming and local bands all brought to a brilliant climax by watching England on the giant screen qualify for the World Cup semi-finals.

EXETER City Football Club is marking the day of the World Cup Final (Sunday, July 15, 2018) by holding its own special international tournament for both men and women's teams.

The Club will once again celebrate diversity in the local community when its annual summer five-a-side tournament is held at the University of Exeter’s Streatham Sports Park.

Dozens have celebrated this year’s World Cup by taking part in a special football tournament hosted by a charity which is encouraging people with learning disabilities to get more active.

To celebrate the World Cup taking place, ROC Active Exeter – a service run by the disability charity United Response – hosted a ‘World Cup Day’ football tournament for people with learning disabilities and local schoolchildren over 15.
