Devon could be battered by wind gusts of up to 70mph over the next couple of days as Storm Éowyn moves across the country.

The Met Office has issued a Yellow Weather Warning for wind from 7am to 6pm tomorrow (Thursday 23 January) and all day Friday (24 January), as well as a Yellow Weather Warning for heavy rain on Friday from first thing until 9am.

A new Local Centre is shortly to be completed on a major mixed-use development close to Exeter Science Park. The Tithebarn Local Centre will be a focal point for the community.

A new sculpture will form the central feature in the landscaped area of the Tithebarn Local Centre. The sculpture named ‘ Chaetonotus’ (pronounced ‘key-toe-no-tus’), has been created by East Devon artist, Martin Staniforth. Local homebuilder donates £1,500 to support cancer care at RD&E Hospital

Devon based homebuilder Barratt Homes has donated £1,500 to the Cherrybrook day case chemotherapy unit at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, through the Royal Devon Hospitals Charity. This contribution is part of the housebuilder’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities through its community fund initiative.

The world’s largest garden wildlife survey returns this month, with hundreds of thousands of people watching and counting the UK’s garden birds over the last weekend in January for the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch.

Over 600 thousand people took part in 2024, counting more than nine million birds. In Devon more than 16 thousand people took part, with the House Sparrow taking the top spot as the most commonly seen bird, followed by Blue Tit, and Blackbird.
