Ukrainian Easter Celebration at Exeter Cathedral

In Ukraine, Easter is called Velykden, or The Great Day. As in many cultures, Velykden is both a religious and secular holiday combining Christian and ancient traditional practices and symbolism.

The Devon Ukrainian Association in collaboration with Exeter Cathedral is pleased to host the first Ukrainian Orthodox Easter service and the blessing of Easter cakes and Easter eggs according to the Ukrainian tradition on 16 April at 11.30am.

The service will be celebrated in Ukrainian by an Orthodox chaplain, Fr. Yevhen from London who is a descendant of Ukrainian immigrants...

The Positive Birth Company has announced an ambitious fundraising event for Tommy’s baby charity later this month which will see the team complete a 24 hour disco bike-a-thon relay at their HQ near Totnes.

Live streaming the entire event on their YouTube channel to more than 80,000 people, the company will be taking it in turns to complete shifts on a Peloton bike situated in their headquarters at Berry Pomeroy, while simultaneously having a disco to keep morale up throughout the 24 hour stint.

Taylor Wimpey has proudly assisted Cranbrook Running Club with its support towards Force Cancer Charity. The running club organised a charity raffle event in Cranbrook, which Taylor Wimpey proudly supported with a £250 donation, allowing the club to purchase further items to raise more funds to then hand over to the charity.

Force Cancer Charity provides free support and information to anyone affected by cancer at its centre in Exeter and local community hospitals. This includes counselling, group sessions, complementary therapies, benefits advice and specialist physiotherapy....

A rare wooden boat being restored in a Devon village is celebrating its 108th birthday with an open day on 10 April.

The 58ft Britannia is being rebuilt by Sam and Vicki Samuels and a team of volunteers, 20 miles from the sea in the village of Winkleigh. A key part of the project is to train disadvantaged young people in the art of boatbuilding.

A major project to refurbish a 160-year-old landmark Exeter church is set to begin in April.

The £1.2 million project to renovate the St Luke’s Chapel in Exeter is due to take around six months to complete.

The St Luke’s Chapel is on the Heavitree Road end of the University of Exeter’s St Luke’s Campus. Built in 1863 as part of the St Luke’s Church of England Teacher Training College, the Chapel suffered a direct hit from a bomb in 1942 and was rebuilt and rededicated in 1952. Stagecoach have announced today that over 15 million bus passengers have already taken advantage of the new £2 single fares since the launch of the initiative on 1 January 2023. Exeter Airport and RNIB lead the way on ‘benchmark’ sight loss awareness sessions

Staff at Exeter Airport have joined forces with RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People) to undertake specialist awareness sessions, aimed at better-assisting passengers with sight loss and reduced mobility.
