Antiques taken in East Devon burglary

Police have released images of a number of antiques stolen during a burglary at a property in Colyton.

The incident took place at an unoccupied property in Gullyshoot, Colyton, East Devon, between 1st and 3rd February.

The following distinctive antique pieces stolen.

Silver Items:

A William IV Castle Top Snuff box (2 7/8" long); the hinged cover chased with a view of Windsor Castle and having a cast foliage decorated thumb piece; the base with engine turned decoration and having a rectangular cartouche with an engraved monogram; gilt lined interior....

Champions come together to kick off the Big Devon March

The launch event for the Big Devon March went off with a blast as 28 staff from across Devon came together to pledge their support to get their workplaces walking more during March.

Devon’s Community Composting groups set for reprieve

Measures aimed at softening the impact of proposed changes to the amount the authority pays community groups to compost, will be recommended to Devon County Council’s Cabinet.

A consultation held last year included proposals to reduce the discretionary community composting credit rate, the amount per tonne the authority pays to local community groups, from £58 to £25.

People are invited to have their say on new measures aimed at giving greater protections to one of the rarest and most threatened species living in Teignbridge.

Teignbridge is encouraging people to comment on a document that looks at preserving bat flyways where different developments are taking place and make sure that they don’t affect bats moving around.

Plans to close Exeter Bus Station temporarily on hold

EXETER City Council has revealed that it is putting plans to close Exeter Bus Station temporarily on hold.

The council said it needs more time before appointing contractors to create its part of a major new redevelopment at the bus station site.

It had planned to start construction on the state-of-the-art new leisure complex St Sidwell’s Point, and a new Exeter Bus Station, at the end of March. Completion was due in December 2018.

Exeter businesses Slingshot Six Ltd, Wellity and Speedy Freight Exeter have made it to the final of Devon’s Fast Track to Growth Programme.

The next generation of construction specialists studying at Exeter College had a behind-the-scenes tour of an innovative low energy building project.
