Good causes impacted by COVID-19 urged to apply for share of £4m funding pot

Organisations can apply to Postcode Neighbourhood Trust for grants between £500 and £20,000 from now until Wednesday 19th August, when applications will close.

The funding boost is available thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery .

Local charities and good causes impacted by COVID-19 are being urged to apply for up to £20,000 in funding.

Groups looking to increase their resilience, adapt or expand their services as a result of the pandemic should apply. Funding will support a variety of activities, including covering core costs.

Harnessing technology for success

Research is underway to understand how effective SMEs in the South West have been at using technology during the pandemic.

Exeter-based IT and support company, Timewade are running an online survey to understand successes and challenges, to feed back to the business community.

Already, some of the initial findings are providing invaluable insight, with just 16% saying their technology was fully prepared for the Covid-19 pandemic. Those taking the survey, which runs through the summer, will be the first to receive the full findings.

Ambulance service warns over high summer demand 

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) is reminding people only to call 999 in a medical emergency when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk. The Trust has been responding to a high number of incidents in recent days, as demand on the service has increased noticeably during the past month. SWASFT dealt with 14,340 incidents between Friday 7 and Tuesday 11 August, an increase of 13.8% compared to the same time period last year. BBC Children in Need has announced that it has awarded a new grant totalling £29,970 to a local project working with disadvantaged children and young people in Exeter.

The new funding award - made possible following BBC Children in Need’s 2019 Appeal in November - will support the delivery of vital services to young people in the area and means that the charity now has more than £219,000 invested locally.
