The first consultation for the new Exeter Mathematics School (EMS) will be held on 28 August at the University of Exeter.
The new school will be a mathematically oriented, academic sixth form, providing an environment in which those with an interest in, and aptitude for, mathematics can be stimulated, developed and stretched.
The EMS is due to open in September 2014, with 30 year 12 students drawn from Devon, Dorset, Cornwall and Somerset and is co-sponsored by the University of Exeter and Exeter College.

Richard Henderson, born 23 August 1970, went missing on 8 August 2013 from his home address in Sandford Walk, Exeter. His neighbours believed he was due to go camping on 7 August 2013 and he may be in possession of a tent and camping equipment.
Mr Henderson is described as a white male, about 5ft 11in tall, of slim build with short cropped fair hair, he has links to Exmouth, Exeter and the Dawlish areas.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the old A30 near Lifton in Devon. The number of people claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) in Devon has fallen for the fifth consecutive month, meaning claimant numbers are at the lowest they have been since November 2008.
The claimant count across the county was down by 244 from 7,741 in June to 7,497 in July.
Even though the Devon figures reflect the national trend, the month on month decrease of 3.2% has occurred at a faster rate in Devon compared to the UK (1.5%).

Police investigating the theft of two mid-15th century medieval panels from a Devon church are appealing for information nationally. Police believe the panels (pictured) were taken from The Holy Trinity Church in Torbryan, Newton Abbot sometime between Friday 2 August and Friday 9 August. A third panel was also damaged.
