Charity fashion show a runway success

Exeter-based Rainbow Living are celebrating after a sell-out fashion show raised around £1,350.

Run in conjunction with John Lewis Exeter, this VIP event was supported by over 120 guests who enjoyed a fun fashion fiesta. Volunteer models took to the catwalk on behalf of the charity, showcasing clothes from the new Men and Women’s Summer collections, and John Lewis experts were on hand with fashion and beauty tips and advice.

Cracking Easter family events at John Lewis

New dementia project demonstrates benefits of allotments

People suffering from dementia are being offered the chance to get out and enjoy pottering around on an allotment thanks to Age UK Exeter and Exeter City Council.

Linking Lives is a new project being rolled out by Age UK Exeter.

Rachel to run marathon dressed as a lobster

Rachel Marshall, a 39-year-old Mortgage Adviser from Exeter will be running the London Marathon on 26 April dressed as a lobster, to raise money for national deafblind charity Sense.

Rachel who has named her lobster Loulou, said: “People often ask me ‘Why a Lobster?’ and to them I say ‘Why not?’. I was looking for a costume as at last year’s marathon I felt so jealous of the spectacular response people in costumes get and when I saw Loulou I couldn’t help but smile. City Council agrees funding for warden and Home Call services

Exeter City Council has agreed to continue the funding of the warden and Home Call alarm services for residents in the Council’s older persons’ accommodation.

This follows a Devon County Council decision to withdraw annual funding of £182,000 for these services.

The Home Call alarm facility provides an emergency monitoring service 24-hours-a-day and helps safeguard the welfare of older residents. However, the availability of this service isn’t confined to elderly, Exeter or Council residents only.
