Of all the events we do here at West Town Farm, our annual Barn Dance is the highlight of everyone's year!

Start the evening off gently with some children's entertainment or a quiet pint of local cider in the orchard and progress to a frenzied swirl of fun on the dance floor with Devon based band Red Shed and their caller.

This year we've added an extra bit of excitement with the hire of Boris the Bucking Bull, so if you've ever fancied rodeo now is your chance.

Exeter academic wants volunteers to get muddy for research!

A University of Exeter student is currently in search of music festival volunteers for ESRC funded PhD research.

There is little research into the multi-million pound festival sector, and this PhD study aims to change to that. The South West has a reputation for holding excellent and varied music festivals, each of which contributes to the local economy and tourist trade. University of Exeter student Dee Clayton, is aiming to understand the contribution of volunteers and create a picture of how festivals can use volunteers more effectively.

The University of Exeter is delighted to announce a free festival of arts, music, food and sports at their Forum Piazzas on the Streatham Campus in Exeter.

The festival will include a range of activities and performance for all the family. There will be student acts such as the Soul Choir and the acclaimed A Capella group semi Toned. There will also be professional acts such as the much loved and award-winning street clowning troupe Le Navet Bete.

Professional music also includes acts such as Sheelanagig, The Carrivick Sisters and Exeter favourites Count to Fire.

Black Voices, a Birmingham-based performance ensemble renowned for its rich, powerful harmonies and stunning arrangements, are coming to Exeter on Saturday 8 June to do a concert and public workshop supported by St Thomas Gospel Choir.

Black Voices was founded and is led by its musical director Carol Pemberton. Since 1987, she has steered Black Voices in becoming a unique performance ensemble, focused on promoting singing the black oral tradition (SBOT).

Local singer/songwriter, Charlotte Ward from Ide, near Exeter will take the stage on Sunday evening in her debut performance at Mama Stones, Exeter’s coolest live music venue.

14-year-old Charlotte is set to entertain with a mix of original songs and chart covers on keys and guitar. Charlotte’s style, velvety tones and amazing range belie her age and as a result she is through to the national heats of the UK’s newest talent competition, Teen Star.

Country legend George Jones dies aged 81

The veteran American singer George Jones, one of the greatest stars of country music has died at the age of 81.

Jones, a disciple of country's early 'honky tonk' stars such as Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb and Roy Acuff, enjoyed huge success in the US with a string of hits as well as a certain notoriety for his alcoholism, drug problems and broken marriages.
