SETsquared at the University of Southampton secures nearly £65,000 to create an open innovation ecosystem

A leading university enterprise partnership in the UK has secured £64,750 of funding to establish and encourage open innovation between big businesses, primes, universities and SMEs.

SETsquared, a collaboration between the universities of Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey, will use the cash to run a programme of work including bespoke “one to many” forums that will bring together large corporate companies or public sector organisations that are interested in creating open innovation relationships with SME ‘growth companies’.

Free drop-in clinics to discuss the importance of wills and trusts have proved such a success that they are being rolled out across South Devon by a Plympton-based law firm.

David Richardson of Richardsons Legal Services started offering the free clinics when he saw what he believed to be a worrying number of people neglecting their personal affairs.

He said: “There’s a misconception that wills and Home Protection Trusts are only for the wealthy and people are often embarrassed by the thought of “going to all that trouble” for what they deem to be relatively small assets....

Devon award winners celebrate decade of success

With just a month to go until nominations for this year’s National Apprenticeship Awards competitions close (on 26 April 2013), current apprentices and employers across Devon are being encouraged to enter as the awards celebrate their 10th year.
