£10m investment paying off for holiday park

One of Devon’s biggest independent holiday parks is enjoying a record-breaking start to the year, with bookings up nearly 50%.

Multi-award winning Ladram Bay Holiday Park, on the Jurassic coast overlooking its own bay and beach between Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton, saw bookings rise by 46% in the first full week of January, and then by 52% the following week, compared with the same period in 2014.

UK-first renewable heat network demonstration secures research funding

A low carbon heating project led by E.ON working with the University of Exeter and technology providers SK Solar and Star Renewable Energy has been awarded a Government research grant to carry out the feasibility work to create a UK-first community-wide energy scheme based on emissions-free renewable energy sources.

A national survey commissioned by Van Guard, a market-leading British manufacturer of commercial vehicle accessories, has revealed that 97% of van drivers who responded said they were more likely to buy a van accessory if it was manufactured in the UK. Not only that, but 92% said that buying British is somewhat or highly important to them.

Upskill struggle could be eased by online education

Employers could face an upskill struggle when recruiting for the roles available in a changing job market, set to grow by around 37% in the South West, according to CBI predictions.

The National Careers Council says over half of employers are not confident they will find sufficient recruits for jobs on offer. A YOUNG Exeter trainee accountant has been once again been recognised as one of the best in the South West, after coming first in his accountancy exams.
