Fairport Convention 50th Anniversary Concert

To mark its fiftieth year, Fairport, the inventors of British folk rock, have released a brand new CD titled 50:50@50. The band will play a selection of tracks from the album as well as long-established favourites from their extensive repertoire.

Tonight's concert will also feature an opening performance by Sally Barker,one of England's most talented singer songwriters. Sally came to prominence in the all-girl folk group The Poozies but is best known for her appearances on the BBC TV talent show The Voice where she sang on Sir Tom Jones' team.

Billy Bragg & Joe Henry

In March 2016 Billy Bragg and Joe Henry, guitars in hand, boarded a Los Angeles-bound train at Chicago's Union Station looking to reconnect with the culture of railroad travel and the music it inspired. Winding along 2,728 miles of track over four days, the pair recorded classic railroad songs in waiting rooms and at trackside while the train paused to pick up passengers. On the Shine A Light 2017 tour which stops in Exeter on the 18 January, they'll be playing songs from the journey, along with favourites from their own back catalogues.

Free comedy night in Exeter

Begin 2017 with a laugh at the Comedy Avengers free New Year's Extravaganza show in Exeter.

After a successful first show in December the Comedy Avengers are back at The Hole in the Wall in Exeter for another evening of free live stand up comedy on Tuesday night.

The 'Comedy Avengers' are a coalition of Devon based stand up comedians who are hosting free shows across the South West under including this monthly show at The Hole in the Wall on the second Tuesday of every month.

The same comics appear at each show but will always perform a brand new set so returning...

Christmas tree recycling in East Devon

East Devon is recycling Christmas trees at eight different sites in early January.

The trees will be shredded and the chippings will be used in local parks and gardens.
