Rathbones Spring Concert Series returns to RAMM

The Rathbones Spring Concert Series returns to Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum on 22 March 2017 with a recital by the former Royal Harpist to HRH Prince Charles, Catrin Finch.

Now in its fourth year, the charity concerts, in aid of the RAMM Development Trust, offer music lovers the chance to enjoy first-class musicians playing in the intimacy of the museum’s art gallery.

Award-winning musicians Emily Sun, violin, and Sam Armstrong, piano, perform on 19 April followed by the rising stars in the Alauda String Quartet on 16 May.

Virtual reality training for “safety-critical” jobs

New virtual reality training could help prevent accidents in “safety-critical” industries like the NHS, aviation, the military and nuclear power.

University of Exeter scientist Dr Sam Vine, Exeter-based Cineon Productions and experts from the nuclear industry have joined up to create a new training and technology organisation called Cineon Training ( www.cineon.training ).

Riverside Leisure Centre to reopen this month

Work has begun to reopen Exeter’s Riverside Leisure Centre following last month’s devastating fire.

A statement from Legacy Leisure, which operates Riverside Leisure Centre, on behalf of Exeter City council said: “Following the fire on 21 February, the damage has been assessed and work has now begun to reopen the leisure centre facilities in stages.
