Advice to take care on Devon's roads as colder temperatures set to follow rain

More widespread rainfall today is forecast to be followed by falling temperatures overnight, prompting further warnings of possible travel disruption across the county’s road network.

The Met Office’s latest Yellow Weather Warning for rain started at midday today (Thursday 4 January) and continues until 3am tomorrow morning.

Although the amount of rainfall is expected to be less than during recent storms, as the ground is already saturated it could cause further flooding and surface water issues.

The first students from Exeter’s pioneering four-year MSci Nursing programme are set to graduate this weekend, before starting their new careers as healthcare leaders of the future.

Police officers in Exeter have thanked the public for their support in the run up to the festive period.

The busy Christmas market, which ran for a month in the Cathedral Green area, attracts bumper crowds of visitors and the local Neighbourhood Police Team have been kept busy ensuring the safety of the public in the city.

As well as enhanced patrols, officers have been carrying out covert shoplifting operations in hotspots to catch any opportunistic thieves. Several arrests took place in November and December and police will continue to keep a close eye on daytime...

Barchester’s Cumberland Grange care home, in Exeter, got in the Christmas spirit by taking a festive horse and Carriage ride up over Woodbury Common this week!

Thanks to Cobs & Carriages, Exmouth, residents and staff had a brilliant time together as they enjoyed a gentle ride across an incredibly beautiful part of Devon in Woodbury.

The Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) Christmas Appeal is well underway, receiving a fantastic response so far.

Over £50,000 has been donated since the appeal launched in November to ensure that DAA’s crews remain fully stocked with everything they need for the winter months ahead.

For each of the incident's crews respond to, clinicians quickly work through the contents of their lifesaving critical care kits, which are stocked with essential medical supplies and equipment.

Around 60 Year 9 students at West Exe School, part of the Ted Wragg Multi-Academy Trust , have taken part in an enterprise market at the school this month.

The market is the culmination of the £5 enterprise challenge, those taking part conducted market research, visited the market at Exeter Cathedral, then got to work on planning, pitching and promoting how they were going to use their £5 budget to create something to sell to other students. Barchester’s Cumberland Grange care home, in Exeter, got in the Christmas spirit by throwing a Christmas party for residents and their friends and families.

Cumberland Grange’s Christmas party was in full swing (literally) as they were joined by Swing Exe, a local swing dancing group who got the party started. They had residents and their families up on their feet dancing to some wonderful classical tunes.
