Cumberland Grange care home, in Exeter was filled with flowers, cards and decorations in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

Staff and residents celebrated the day of love by throwing a Valentines party inviting along their family, friends and the community. There was live music, sweet treats and delicious cocktails including Chocolate Martini’s, Sex on the Beach’s and Giggle Juice. Everyone sang and danced along to their favourite love songs.

Unique pilot programme reducing waiting list for spinal surgery in Devon

The NHS in Devon has reduced the number of patients waiting a long time for spinal surgery by nearly 80% between May 2023 and January 2024 by revolutionising the approach to caring for patients.

The number of patients in Devon waiting 78 weeks or more for spinal surgical treatment was 31 at the end of January 2024. This is 79% lower than May 2023 when that number stood at 131.

New funding of nearly £5 million will help researchers understand and develop better blood tests to diagnose type 2 diabetes, making them more accurate for groups including ethnic minorities and the elderly.  

Wellcome has granted a team at the University of Exeter and Queen Mary University of London £4.9 million for an eight year project to understand an individual’s blood sugar – or glucose - levels more accurately. An exciting collaboration between an Exeter museum and University is helping to ensure the museum’s incredible collections are available for use by everyone.

The partnership between the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) and the GLAM-E Lab at the University of Exeter, will help spread awareness of incredible artworks and ensure the public can use them for free and without permission.

Opening on 10 February, Killerton’s new exhibition, Playing by the rules, childhood, dress and imagination, will be open to visit every day from 11am, last admission at 3.30pm.
