Brain Awareness Week to bring neuroscience to the masses

Members of the public are being invited to the University of Exeter to learn more about the marvels of the human brain as part of Brain Awareness Week.

A diverse programme of events will be running across the week (12th-18th March), which focuses on increasing public awareness of the benefits and importance of neuroscience research.

The public are invited to join in a ‘speed dating-style’ event on March 14th, which will provide members of the public the opportunity to meet experts in the field and discover, discuss and delight in diverse aspects of the brain.

CQC boss pops by to commend staff of acclaimed Exeter GP surgery

Staff at an acclaimed Exeter GP surgery were thrilled when a leading light of England’s health and social regulator popped in to say ‘hello’ and congratulate them on their efforts.

The Care Quality Commission’s chief inspector of general practice, Professor Steve Field, visited the Clock Tower Surgery which caters exclusively for the homeless and vulnerably housed earlier this month.

A recruitment business in Exeter picked up two major awards at a glittering ceremony held in London’s Globe Theatre. The city’s branch of Berry Recruitment was presented with an ‘Achievement of Budget’ prize, marking its success in 2017. The event was organised by Berry Recruitment Group (BRG) for its staff, of whom there are more than 200 across 36 branches nationwide. Annual big clean keeps Seaton beautiful

Volunteers are invited to join Seaton Town Council on Saturday 10th March for its annual Big Beach and Town Clean ahead of the summer season and the famous Grizzly which starts and finishes in Seaton on Sunday 18th March.

The annual clean is a community event that brings the town together to ensure the beach and town are spotless for the imminent tourism seasons.

Students from Exeter are all set to run over 100 miles to raise money for St John Ambulance, this spring. A team of six members of the Exeter University First Aid Society (EUFAS) will run the Bath Half Marathon this Sunday (March 4), with one of them using it as training for competing in the following month’s Virgin Money London Marathon.
