As one of the most picturesque regions in Britain, Devon has been a place for some momentous occasions. Be it during Perkin Warbeck’s landing in 1497 that signalled the Cornish Uprising or the arrival of William of Orange to launch 1688’s Glorious Revolution from Brixham, there have been some notable events that have occurred. This definitely extends into the world of Exeter Racecourse that has an interesting history of its own.

The racecourse in Exeter was born out of Charles II’s love for horse racing during the mid 17th Century and there’s even claims that...

Temporary measures are to be introduced in Queen Street in Exeter to provide more space for pedestrians.

The Exeter Highways and Traffic Orders Committee (HATOC) has today approved the £75,000 scheme which will narrow the road to traffic, making it one-way (eastbound) between Paul Street and Northernhay Street. Iron Bridge will be made one way westbound from Paul Street to South of Dinham Road to mitigate the impact of the measures on the St Davids Hill community.

The changes follow a public consultation after concerns were raised over the lack of space for the number of...

With lockdown restrictions still in place for many, combined with fewer Christmas parties and gatherings, Runners Need in Exeter has...

With the average detached home in the UK worth almost £450k, and the average pension pot worth around £50,000 a ‘Wealth Tax’ set as a low as £500,000 could impact millions of normal Brits

The Wealth Tax Commission this week has published a paper proposing how a one-off wealth tax payable on all individual wealth above £500,000 and charged at 1% a year for five years would raise £260 billion to effectively ‘pay’ for coronavirus.

But there are fears that a tax set at £500,000 is far too low, given that the average detached home in the UK has a value of almost £450,000 (...
