Devon’s new surgical hub wins national recognition

A hospital site in Devon that is helping to reduce planned care waiting lists has received national recognition for meeting top clinical and operational standards.

The South West Ambulatory Orthopaedic Centre (SWAOC) at the Nightingale Hospital in Exeter is one of eight to be awarded accreditation as part of a pilot scheme.

The Nightingale Hospital originally opened as a COVID-19 hospital to support the country’s response to the first wave of the pandemic.

Community Deaf hub to launch helped by South West Water Neighbourhood Fund

A new Deaf hub providing bespoke social opportunities for adults will shortly launch in Exeter by Living Options Devon, helped by funding from the South West Water Neighbourhood Fund.

The lasting effects of the Covid pandemic are still being felt by many, including those who are most vulnerable. It has left many Deaf people with a lack of confidence and motivation to go out and socialise. The new hub and monthly sessions will provide a chance for Deaf people to reconnect, and will support individuals in a practical way to get out and about once again.

Three Jaguar and four Land Rover retail sites in the South West are being renamed, following the acquisition of Helston Garages Group Limited by Vertu Motors plc in December 2022.

Jaguar dealerships in Exeter, Taunton and Truro and Land Rover dealerships in Exeter, Taunton, Truro and Yeovil have been brought under the Vertu Motors retail brand.

Skybus celebrates more than 30 years of flying from Exeter Airport as new season takes off

Skybus is celebrating more than 30 years of flying from Exeter Airport to the Isles of Scilly as the 2023 season takes off.

The Cornwall-based airline has been flying from Exeter Airport to Scilly since May 1991 and the first flight of 2023 took off from Exeter this week.

Skybus, owned and operated by the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group, will be operating up to three flights a day, six days a week through to mid-October. With a flight time of just an hour it means one of the most stunning parts of the UK is within easy reach.

Two years ago Jennifer was diagnosed with breast cancer having found a lump whilst self-checking in the shower one morning.

Children and young people, eligible for benefit-related free school meals, have the chance to take part in four days of exciting activities over the Easter Holidays.
