Households in East Devon will soon be receiving a form asking residents to check whether the information that appears on the electoral register for those living at their address is correct as part of East Devon’s annual voter registration canvass.

The aim of the form is to ensure that the electoral register is up to date and to identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so.

The new Universal Credit benefit is being rolled out in the Honiton area and an East Devon District Council team is helping the town’s Jobcentre Plus to advise and assist applicants.

The district council is committed to supporting working age residents in the move to Universal Credit and working with Jobcentre Plus to deliver this important welfare change.

Students at Newton Abbot’s pioneering technical college were put through their paces when a Royal Marine Chef visited to lead an energetic cooking masterclass.

Year 10 and Year 12 students of South Devon University Technical College (UTC) received a lesson in healthy cooking from Colour Sergeant Mike Beaton. A charity golf day in East Devon, made possible through the support of local businesses, has raised £12,109 for Life Education Wessex, a charity which delivers vital health, wellbeing and drugs education in Devon’s schools.

A charity cricket match has raised over £1000 for the Respiratory Unit at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust after the department saved the life of one of the players.
