When A level results come out on August 10, more than three quarters of students who want to go to university are likely to get into their first choice. But not everyone will have secured their places – but it doesn’t mean you won’t get a degree if you still want to, or travel far from home to get one.

Last year, a record number of students – more than 70,000 - found university places through Clearing – a system which helps universities match students who don’t have a place to courses which still have space.

“This summer, once again we will be offering Clearing places and...

What could online movies mean for Exeter’s theatres?

Unless you've been living under a rock recently, you've likely noticed that the way we watch movies has seen some significant changes over the last few years. Formerly the domain of theatres alone, modern systems have shifted how we access movies, and not always in a good way. With concerns over regional economics, recent developments have brought into question how existing theatres operate, and whether those in Exeter could experience negative effects due to the changing climate.

A Change in Digital Media

Fundamentally, the biggest change in how we manage movie media is a result...

Steve Garrood, Chief Commercial Officer at Jurassic Fibre, shares his thoughts on how ultrafast connectivity is supporting digital lifestyles in the South West...

Our reliance on high-speed broadband connectivity is showing no sign of letting up as digital lifestyles increasingly become the norm.

And even though lockdown restrictions have eased, our consumption of data continues to speed up, not slow down.

The smart home revolution and shifting lifestyle habits are driving the need for ultrafast fibre broadband to the home and work premises to meet the demand of...

Exeter Nightingale Hospital to help reduce patient waiting lists

The NHS Nightingale Hospital Exeter will provide a range of services from autumn 2021 to help tackle waiting lists across Devon and the wider South West region.

After being decommissioned as a COVID-19 hospital earlier this year, the Nightingale was purchased by NHS organisations across the South West. It has since been used to provide diagnostic scans to local people, host a COVID-19 vaccine trial and train overseas nurses.

Local health bosses confirm that plans are well underway to extend these services later in the year, to include planned orthopaedic surgery,...

Popular beauty spots have been getting busier, and Devon County Council has received reports of inconsiderate parking in parts of the county, especially in coastal areas and on Dartmoor.

As part of its support for the British Parking Association’s national campaign against selfish parking, the County Council is reminding people to be kind and considerate to each other and make sure they park...
