Leading South West building services engineering company EX2 Group has welcomed three new apprentices this week, as they begin their professional training in Electrical Installation with Exeter College.

Christian, Alfie, and Harvey were welcomed to the Exeter offices by James Rayner (right), Project Manager. Exeter employers to receive free help to secure staff, thanks to Exeter Works and Youth Hub Devon

Businesses in Exeter are to receive free help and support to recruit and retain staff, in a unique event provided by Exeter Works and Youth Hub Devon.

The event forms part of National Careers Week, a series of activities primarily aimed at supporting jobseekers, and which runs from 7-12 March.

The South West of England’s tech sector is set to grow to almost £20bn gross value added (GVA) a year by 2026, creating over 125,000 new jobs, according to a new study from Whitecap Consulting.

The research, commissioned by Tech South West, reveals that the South West is rapidly becoming a global leader in environmental tech, with Devon an internationally recognised hub at the forefront of climate research. New research by McCarthy Stone, which is behind Pym Court Retirement Living Plus development on Exeter Road, has found that almost two fifths (39%) of older people in the South West, equating to an estimated 495k, would consider moving, with more than a quarter (27%) of retirees in the region – 343k – potentially needing to downsize.

Mental health services at Cranbrook Education Campus in Devon are set to receive a £500 boost thanks to the Community Champions scheme operated by regional housebuilder Persimmon Homes South West.

Devon authorities pledge support to Ukrainians fleeing conflict

Local authority leaders across Devon have spoken out in concern for the people of Ukraine and their families, following the Russian invasion.
