Ready for the off at The Nello cycle ride for FORCE Cancer Charity

The Nello is back and cyclists can’t wait

One of Devon’s most iconic outdoor events is back this summer after a two-year break.

And the good news is, there’s still time to be a part of it.

The Nello bike ride - FORCE’s Cancer Charity’s biggest single fundraising event of the year – will take place on Sunday June 26.

Up to 1,500 cyclists will gather on the start line at Topsham Rugby Club, ready to take on the personal challenge of riding 55 or 100 miles.

The event has been virtual for the past two years due to COVID – riders choosing when and where to ride.

The Environment Agency’s Fisheries Improvement Programme (known as FIP) has seen £25,853 of rod licence income invested in Devon and Cornwall projects over the last 12 months. The projects were delivered in collaboration with several different partners, including local angling clubs, rivers trusts and landowners. The funding has helped to enhance fisheries, boost fish stocks and make improvements for anglers, angling facilities and the environment. National Highways and The Wildlife Trusts have joined forces to launch a new £6 million Network for Nature programme that will improve habitats across the South West of England benefitting people, nature and wildlife.

The projects will help create, restore and connect places for wildflowers, trees and wildlife, where the environment has been impacted by activities from previous road building. Natural solutions such as wetlands and reedbeds will help filter polluted run-off from roads.

Crowdfunder appeal launched to install a Library Card Music Player device in Exeter Library for the Summer Reading Challenge.

The Library Card Music Player Project, which was originally funded by the Arts Council England, allowed for the building and installing of three music-generating devices that have been installed into three different libraries in the UK.
