Body found at Exeter retail park

Police are investigating after a man’s body was found earlier today near Tesco Extra in Exeter (Wednesday 19 August).

The body was found near the redundant water tower on Rydon Lane Retail Park, between the KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants and the Tesco Extra store.

The area where the body was discovered was cordoned off for some time.

Police are trying to establish the man’s identity and cause of death.

All stores are open as usual.

Two more arrested over Cowick Street assault

Detectives investigating a serious assault in Exeter are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A 21-year-old local man was found unconscious in the road in Cowick Street, St Thomas, shortly before 4.20am on Saturday 8 August. He had suffered serious head and neck injuries.

Officers believe he had been the victim of an assault at the junction of Cowick Street and Old Vicarage Road before being struck by a car, driven by a 37-year-old man from the Exeter area. The collision is believed to be unrelated to the assault.

Crime on railways in the SW falls

The specialist police force for the rail network released crime figures for its Western sub-division* today (Wednesday, 19 August) alongside its national annual report, which showed crime had fallen across Britain’s railways for the eleventh consecutive year.

Exeter man wanted for recall to prison

Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace a 32-year-old man from Exeter who is wanted for recall to prison after breaching his prison license conditions.

Shay Scales (pictured) was originally charged with theft and imprisoned earlier this year but has failed to comply with conditions of his prison release license as part of his probation.

Numerous enquiries have been made by police to try and locate him.

Police are asking the public for information about his whereabouts and to report any sightings to them.

Exmouth recreation ground improvements are child's play

East Devon District Council and Exmouth Town Council have been working closely together to spend a total of £118,000 on improvements to Phear Park and Imperial Recreation Ground play areas. Phear Park will receive £48,000, while Imperial Recreation Ground will get £70,000. The money has been contributed by developers through Section 106 funding for play areas, which is given by developers for every new home created in the town. East Devon chooses to involve the community in how it spends this money.

Broadwalk House restaurant plans revealed

The Princesshay Partnership, comprising The Crown Estate and TH Real Estate, has submitted a planning application to transform the lower levels of Broadwalk House into new restaurants, opposite Princesshay Shopping Centre’s Roman Walk.

The planning application would see the ground floor of Broadwalk House North turned into two new restaurants, surrounded by new landscaped terraces to allow visitors to enjoy an outdoor dining experience during the warmer months of the year. The restaurants proposed would comprise circa 3,500 sq ft and 2,700 sq ft of space respectively.

Police in Honiton are appealing for information following two burglaries in the Town.

Two burglaries took place at static homes located on Otter Valley Park in Honiton, sometime between 1pm on Friday 6 August and 8am on Saturday 7 August.

Both properties were entered by forcing a door and once inside and following an untidy search items of property, many valued at thousands of pounds and of sentimental value were stolen.

Police are appealing for the public’s help to locate Steven Brannick who has been reported missing from his home in Exeter.

The 48-year-old was last seen leaving his home in the Countess Wear area at 3pm on Monday (17 August) and police are concerned for his welfare as the disappearance is totally out-of-character.
