Plans for The Highways Agency becoming a New Co could lead to Road Tolling for Motorists

The PCS are trying to prevent the Highways Agency being turned into a government owned company which could eventually lead to tolls being introduced onto Britain’s roads.

The coalition government want to pass control of the valued £111 billion, strategic road network of England to a ‘strategic highways company’ which would be out of direct oversight of parliament.

With said value, foreign sovereign wealth funds could potentially be attracted to the road network, just like the nation’s water companies.

Former Prime Minister Baroness Thatcher dies aged 87

The Prime Minister David Cameron has led tributes to his predecessor, Baroness Thatcher who has died aged 87 from a stroke.

Describing it as "a truly sad day for our country", Mr Cameron said "we have lost a great prime minister, a great leader, a great Briton".

Baroness Thatcher's spokesperson Lord Bell announced her death, saying "It is with great sadness that Mark and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness Thatcher died peacefully following a stroke this morning."

Europe's leaders are poised this morning to cut the European Union's budget for the first time in its 56-year history following a major victory for David Cameron.

Missing elderly man rescued by police dog in Wadebridge

Police dog Eddie and his handler, Police Constable Colin Harper located a vulnerable, elderly missing man this morning in the Wadebridge area. The man aged 90 years had been reported missing by his wife at 6.50pm yesterday evening after he failed to return from a walk. He was last seen at 2.00pm when he set off on his walk on the Camel trail. Following a search he was located at around 10.50am this morning lying in a field.
