A new walking and cycling trail in Cranbrook has been officially opened.

The “Cranbrook Discovery Trail: Long Orchard” has been developed by Devon County Council, East Devon District Council, Cranbrook Town Council and Cranbrook New Community Partners Consortium to encourage residents to explore their local area.

As a designated “Healthy Town” it also provides local adults and children in Cranbrook with an opportunity to stay active.

The opening was attended by Councillor Andrew Moulding, Deputy Leader of East Devon District Council and Chairman of Devon County...

A walking and cycling trail is being launched in Cranbrook next month (January) to help local residents explore the area.

The “Discover Cranbrook: The Long Orchard Trail” is being established by Devon County Council, East Devon District Council, Cranbrook Town Council and Cranbrook New Community Partners Consortium to encourage people to get active and find out what’s on their doorstep.

Starting at the entrance of the Country Park at Long Orchard, the trail includes five posts which feature different rubbings – four around the park and a fifth at Cranbrook Train Station....

Bid submitted for Teign Estuary Trail section from Dawlish

A bid has been submitted to the Government for Coastal Communities Funding for the Dawlish to Teignmouth section of the Teign Estuary Trail.

Following a public consultation earlier this year, Devon County Council has developed a preferred option for the scheme which Dawlish Town Council and Teignbridge District Council are being asked to consider.

Just over 150 responses were received during the consultation. Of those who responded, 71% either supported or strongly supported improving pedestrian and cycling facilities through Dawlish.

The Bear Trail - Opening Day

The Bear Trail is an innovative and challenging outdoor adventure trail, masterminded by Ben Jordan, a former Captain who served for 5 years in The Rifles regiment of the British Army.

New outdoor festival launches with most iconic trail

A new outdoor festival with one of Britain’s toughest trails is promised to be one of the highlights of the South west festival.

The running event is to take place in the heart of Heddon Valley in North Devon this September 23-25.

There will be a mixture of trail running challenges, with three distances to choose from which are a full off road marathon length race, a half marathon event, and a 10km challenge.

Plans to be submitted for Sidbury to Sidford walking and cycling trail

A planning application for a proposed walking and cycling trail from Sidbury to Sidford will shortly be submitted by Devon County Council.

The scheme includes a 1km surfaced walkway and cycleway running between Laundry Lane in Sidford and the southern boundary of Sidbury. The trail runs along agricultural land on the Eastern side of the A375 and then passes onto boardwalk through woodland at Sidbury.

The route has been chosen following public exhibitions in Sidbury and Sidford in February 2014, as well as consultation with affected parties and a presentation to Sidmouth...
