Local charity Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) has a new initiative for September. The charity is encouraging supporters to donate postage stamps to help raise funds for the charity’s three children’s hospices in the region.

All kinds of stamps can be donated; new, old, used and collectable. Large quantities of stamps can be sold online to collectors, and the money raised will help the hospices to provide support and care for local children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Collection post boxes will be stationed at all CHSW charity shops across the...

A stamp collection dating back to 1979 has been donated to the South West Police Heritage Trust.

The stamp collection cover was signed by Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer on behalf of Devon and Cornwall Police as part of our 50th anniversary celebrations. The collection also includes a...

Tony’s heartwarming story demonstrates how collecting stamps, coins and postcards can help Hospiscare. It begins, as is so often the case with a personal story of kindness from the charity:

“It goes back to 1992/3 when Jill’s mum had cancer we had two...

Stamp price rises at end of month

The Royal Mail is reminding people that, from the 30th March, the price of first and second class postage stamps will increase by 1p each. This means first class postage stamps will be 63p and second class postage stamps will be 54p. As part of these changes, there is also an implication to the cost of sending a large letter first class from previous levels meaning these too will increase from 93p to 95p and from 73p to 74p if sent second class. So is the increase now set to be an annual one, or will the state of the economy drive the change in pricing moving forwards? Looking back, the...
