Open air theatre comes to East Devon

Two of East Devon’s best loved parks will be the venue for several outstanding shows this summer.

Well regarded touring theatre companies will be performing at Connaught Gardens in Sidmouth and Manor Gardens in Exmouth. Choose from Much Ado about Nothing, Hamlet or Pride and Prejudice.

This is a joint project between East Devon District Council’s StreetScene and Countryside departments bringing new events to our outstanding parks and gardens.

Shotgun Theatre present Rent at Exeter Phoenix

From the 19-22 January the Exeter Phoenix will be hosting an exciting new production of the musical Rent, produced and performed by the University of Exeter’s Shotgun Theatre Company.

Set in early 1990s Manhattan, Rent tracks the trials and tribulations of several struggling artists living in the island’s East Village. The musical’s narrator is film-maker Mark Cohen who, along with musician Roger Davis, can’t drum up the outstanding rent for their old friend and landlord Benny. Tour of Britain to re-visit popular locations

Devon will have featured in The Friends Life Tour of Britain more times than any other venue outside of London when it hosts Stage Five on Thursday 11 September.

The 2014 edition of Britain’s most prestigious race will be the eighth time that The Tour has ventured into the county and it will re-visit some of its most popular locations from previous editions of the race.
