Pedestrian killed by lorry on A38

Motorists were facing severe delays this lunchtime after a pedestrian was killed on the A38.

Emergency services are currently at the scene of a fatal collision at South Brent.

The collision between a male pedestrian and a DAF HGV happened on the northbound carriageway near to the Shell Carew garage around 11am today [20 May].

The male pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. It has been reported that he stepped out in front of the garden.

The A38 is currently closed at Ivybridge and diversions are in place.

Help Dartmoor National Park Archaeologists and Rangers look after prehistoric stone rows on a two day conservation work project on 19 and 20 August 2015.

Dartmoor’s landscape is among the richest in western Europe in terms of its prehistoric archaeological remains. Dartmoor contains the longest stone row in the world and has the greatest number of archaeological sites out of all the UK National Parks. In fact 60% of all stone rows to be found in England are on Dartmoor and 1/3 of all stone rows in the UK and Brittany are on Dartmoor.

All of this takes some looking after!...

Dog owners asked to keep their animals under control after a sheep attack

Police in South Devon are reminding dog owners of the need to keep their animals under control following an attack on sheep in the Bala Brook area of South Brent in February 2013. Police enquiries have yet to identify the white Jack Russell and a small brown Poodle/Terrier type dog that were chased off during the incident on 7 February. The sheep suffered minor injuries. A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said, “Owners must ensure their pets are not allowed into any fields with livestock.
